HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) - A former Huntsville City Schools employee accused of having sex with a student pleaded guilty on Tuesday.

Duane Yarbrough was accused of having sex with a student while he was a JROTC instructor at Lee and New Century high schools.

He worked for Huntsville City Schools from July 2016 to October 2022.

Yarbrough stopped his trial Tuesday morning to plead guilty. 

Yarbrough’s plea came as the victim in the case was about to resume testifying.

Yarbrough will be sentenced on May 5.
