Britain's Got Talent star fears 'missing' semi-final due to health battle
Stacey Leadbeatter received a golden buzzer during the audition process
A Britain’s Got Talent star has revealed they fear ‘missing’ their semi-final amid their heartbreaking health battle.
Following an audition process that was held in Blackpool and featured KSI as a guest judge, the ITV talent show’s first live semi-final took place last Saturday (April 26).
In a fresh twist to the series, judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Bruno Tonioli and Alesha Dixon can each use a golden buzzer to send a contestant straight through to the final at any point across the five live shows.
In an episode that saw child magician Teddy Magic 'not ready' to compete, Amanda used her golden buzzer to send LED dance act The Blackouts through.
At the end of the episode singer Vinnie McKee reached the final after topping the public vote, with the judges no longer picking the second act to go through,
Returning for its second semi-final on Saturday night (May 3), the episode will feature stunt cheerleaders Cheer Re Mans, 11-year-old guitarist OIly Pearson and magician Alexandra Burgio.
However, supermarket worker Stacey Leadbeatter has revealed that she is a doubt to perform due to a medical diagnosis.
The 29-year-old singer blew the judges away at the auditions with her performance of Snow Patrol anthem Run.
Despite having only performed once in her life prior, guest judge KSI used his golden buzzer to send Stacey straight through to the next round.
Tipped as one of the frontrunners to win the £250,000 prize and a place at the Royal Variety Show, Stacey announced that she has been diagnosed with strep throat.
She told The Mirror: “My voice is only just coming back. I am still actually on antibiotics. I haven’t been able to sing properly.
“I have been a bit concerned about this weekend but, hopefully, I’ll be able to do it.”
If Stacey was unable to perform, it’s unclear what ITV would do as they already have to find a place for Teddy Magic to perform.
Reflecting on the response her audition received, Stacey said: “It’s got me quite emotional, actually. There's a lady that's told me she had a stroke and that listening to me helped her.
“And then there's a guy called Daniel, he rang the bell because he's been fighting cancer. He told me that I gave him strength.
“I’m doing it for them. It's built up my confidence. I'm like, you know what? People are here for me, and they're here to support me, and they want to listen to me so I can do this for them.”
Britain’s Got Talent airs on Saturdays at 7pm on ITV1 and ITVX
