On May 16, the Mumbai Cricket Association unveiled the Rohit Sharma Stand- paying tribute to one of India's most successful and beloved modern cricketers.

The event was an emotional affair. Rohit’s parents had the honour of unveiling the stand and the ceremony was attended by current Mumbai Indians players, MCA officials and notable names from Indian cricket.
Among them was former India head coach Ravi Shastri, who had a cheeky message for the Indian captain.

How did Ravi Shastri react to the new stand named after Rohit Sharma?
Shastri is known for his comic commentary style. He couldn’t resist dropping a playful line after greeting Rohit.
As the two embraced, Shastri pointed towards the newly named stand and quipped: "Smack one there." Rohit responded with a smiled and said: "Ho jayega (It will happen)."

How did Rohit Sharma react to the new stand named after him?
After the unveiling, Rohit spoke about how surreal the honour felt. The 37-year-old recently announced his retirement from Test cricket.
He admitted that such a moment had never even crossed his mind.
“I had never dreamt of what was going to happen today. Something like this is really special, because Wankhede is an iconic stadium and so many memories have been made here,” Rohit said.
He added that playing in front of a stand bearing his name, especially when MI take on Delhi Capitals on May 21 -- will be an unforgettable experience.
