ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — The Grovewood Gallery is a massive art gallery in the Grovewood Village, sitting in the midst of the Grove Park Inn in the heart of North Asheville.

While the work of hundreds of artists populate the gallery inside, eight different artists have brought their work out into the Grovewood Gallery garden. Grovewood Village will host the Enchanted Garden Art Show from Saturday, June 14 to Sunday, September 21.

The show, free to attend, is arranged all around the grounds of the Grovewood Village. Many of the sculptures featured are of animals, though a few wiry, intricate pieces resemble people, too.

The featured artists include J. Aaron Alderman, Jonathan Bowling, Josh Coté, Bob Doster, Todd Frahm, Roger Martin, Zachary Smith-Johnson and Lyman Whitaker.

The latter artists, Lyman Whitaker, has a steady presence at the Grovewood Gallery thanks to his beautiful wind sculptures.

“The wind sculptures we have here all the time,” said LouAnne Jordan, a manager at the gallery. “We’ve sold a million of them, the wind sculptures. People get addicted to them.”

The peaceful twirling of the Whitaker sculptures is representative of the general atmosphere in the Grovewood Gallery garden.

“We’re real comfortable and casual here,” Jordan said.

Visitors to the show are free to wander through the grounds and walk up to the sculptures at their leisure.

“I think the sculpture in this exhibit is very approachable,” Jordan said, meaning unpretentious, but the description works literally, too.
